stupid busy? crazy busy? perhaps both?
Well, I’m still alive. Still on my own, and it’s still working out as I had hoped, and I still couldn’t be happier. As much as I’d like to think I actually miss working at an agency, over the last three weeks, I’ve come to realize, I wasn’t and would never have been happy if I had continued that path. It’s one thing to be a “production monkey” and another to be a graphic designer. The latter at least, is allowed to have some creative input– of which I was not.
Anyway, things have been going great and I’ve had the opportunity here recently to submit proposals on some great multi-medium work (print and web components) here both locally and outside the state. Of course the bid process is always unnerving, but confidence within and an understanding to the point of knowledge, is more than enough to defend and justify when asked to do so. I’ve learned more in the last two and a half weeks about the bidding process and the how-to’s within, than I could have ever learned as someone else’s employee. For that I must pat myself on the back, just a little.
Great news on a side note, is that this coming Sunday, the social golf community project I’ve been busting tail on, over the last five and a half years, appears to be at the moment of truth. My business partner and I are deep within our first efforts for venture capital, and it looks like the fruits of our labor will be paying off soon. I’ll make an official post about that when there’s more news here in a few days.
