Glenn Beck: Cars.gov allows government to takeover your computer
August 6th, 2009Mind Numbing, Political, WTF No CommentsThis is a mis-leading headline as these folks on this show go much deeper than saying the government can take over just your computer. My comments are below. Enjoy.
I just watched this video, and it’s only marginally accurate. Here’s a simplified approach at my thoughts about this video…
Accurate:
- There is the reality of malware, spyware, and other malicious software on the internet, and that safe browsing habits need to be employed.
- That transmitting information through that website and that application specifically can be monitored, audited, disclosed, etc. by the host application (this is common practice as it allows the website to be held harmless should fraud, or other malicious intent from the user occur. Basically a statement of “provided as-is with no warranty” type thing).
- That octopus do in-fact regenerate tentacles.
Inaccurate:
- That anything outside the direct usage of that application specifically the government can legally monitor by the government. … this statement is absolutely untrue.
- That everything in your home, is now property of the government. (This statement Kim made, is unbelievably asinine. And shows exactly what’s wrong with the Glenn Beck show if he’s bringing on people that say things like that, which is basically fear mongering.)
- That your computer is now the property of the US Government.
- “Jumping inside you and seizing all your personal and private information” – News anchor Kim … this an outright lie.
- “They can continue to track you… basically forever… once they’ve tapped into your system.” – News anchor Kim … this is also an outright lie.
- “The government ‘of course’ has like, malware systems and tracking cookies and they can tap in, any time they want.” – News anchor Kim … this is sensationalized lying at it’s best.
Unreal that this type of garbage is thrown upon the watching audience… which my guess is non-the-wiser about the technical inaccuracies in the majority of any statement made in this clip.
